You need to know the "big picture;" you need to have a "world view," especially in the post-911 world; and you need more information than ever before to be successful in meeting your financial goals. Gary intends to help you do just that.

re: The Economy, The Electoral Map & The United Nations

The money quoted for investing in the United Nations--stretched out over 13 years--is chump change. We need to bolster the UN--or Europe, or NATO--in order to support forces forward to check Russia. This is the central failing of the Bush administration over the last several years, they've overextended our forces and opened up a window for anyone else in the world to expand regionally. Specifically, Russia and China.

The Republican Party is always talking about making our country strong but their policies over the last decade have done the exact opposite. They are terrible at executing wars, period. And their economic policies are also unsustainable. Supply side economics is only valid when tax rates are EXTREMELY high, say in the 1960's when the top rate was 91%. Growing GDP is not the end-all be-all measure of economic success, particularly when the wealth is concentrated in the top 1% of population. And no, these people don't invest this money to create new jobs or at least not nearly enough to come out ahead.

The free market is not the answer to all problems. Given a completely free market, abortion, prostitution and drug use would all be legal. So please stop saying "FREE MARKET" like it's some sort of trump card. You don't believe in a completely free market.

Speaking of, what is it with the higher-than-thou stance on abortion and the rampant homophobia? Making abortions illegal only increases the number of women who die, we don't need to debate the results because there are countries that outlaw abortion and we can measure the results. Abortion has been around since women have been getting pregnant, we need to focus on something we can agree on--reducing unwanted pregnancies--and create some actual policies to reduce abortion. Let's stop arguing at the extremes and get it done.

And we have to get over the fact that some boys kiss each other; history is full of out-dated intolerant ideas being washed over by our general trend towards more tolerance. It's the same argument people made against interracial marriage, that it would lead to bestiality and all sorts of horrible things. It didn't and boys kissing won't either. Every American should be able to fight for his country.
